As India celebrates the festival of Raksha Bandhan we bring to you some of our famous Bollywood siblings.
Aishwarya Rai and Aditya Rai: It's a little known fact that former beauty queen Aishwarya Rai has an elder brother, Aditya, who is an engineer in the merchant navy. He is married to Shrima Rai who happened to be the 1st runner-up at Mrs India pageant in 2009.
Karisma and Kareena Kapoor: The Kapoor sisters are extremely close and are almost like best friends. Not only do Lolo and Bebo make it a point to spend time together, especially when it comes to birthday celebrations etc, they have supported each other in good times and bad. Even Kareena's husband, Saif Ali Khan also shares a close friendship with Karisma due to the closeness of the sisters.
Ranbir Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Sahni: Ranbir Kapoor's elder sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni prefers to stay away from the limelight unlike the rest of the Kapoor clan. Riddhima is a fashion designer and has her own label, Ara. Though the siblings pursue different careers, they are said to share a close bond.
Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail, Arpita, Alvira: We’re absolutely sure there can be no better elder brother than Salman bhai. Family comes first for Salman Khan. He has acted in many of his younger brother Sohail’s films and Arbaaz’s hit franchise Dabangg. When it comes to his sisters, we hear Salman Khan is a doting brother and is very protective of both - Alvira and Arpita.
Priyanka Chopra and Siddharth: Priyanka Chopra may be on her heels given her hectic schedule but the actress has always maintained a strong bond with her family, especially her younger brother Siddharth. Priyanka in an interview had said that no matter where the two siblings are are in the world, they always celebrate Raksha Bandhan. She said: “I make it a point to send him a rakhi no matter what.” And Siddharth, who in Priyanka's words is an 'excellent chef' pampers her with delicious eateries.
Sonam, Rhea and Harshvardhan Kapoor: While Sonam Kapoor enjoys the spotlight and wins praise for her fashion sense, few know that the credit actually goes to her younger sister Rhea who is a producer and styles Sonam most of the time. The sisters also have a brother Harshvardhan who is currently making his debut as an assistant director in Bombay Velvet and will soon be seen on screen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Mirza Sahibaan.
Kajol and Tanisha: Even after marriage, Kajol continues to be one of the most sought after actresses in Bollywood. However, in the case of younger sister Tanisha, she is still waiting for her big Bollywood break. But, Kajol seems to be ever supportive of her baby sister. She was recently spotted at Tanisha’s theatre debut along with their mother Tanuja.
Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta Nanda: Amitabh Bachchan's elder daughter is very rarely seen at B-town events. She is married to industrialist Nikhil Nanda and has two children, Navya and Agastya. She and Abhishek are extremely close, and we hear she gets on well with Aishwarya as well.
Shilpa and Shamita Shetty: Though younger sister Shamita Shetty's Bollywood career didn't quite take off as well as Shilpa's did, the sisters share a special friendship. When Shamita appeared as a guest on Bigg Boss, she opted out due to elder sister Shilpa's wedding. The sisters even worked together once in the film Fareb.
Sonakshi and Luv and Kush: Not many are aware that Sonakshi Sinha has two brothers – Luv and Kush who are twins. Just as Salman Khan gave Sonakshi her big break with Dabangg, he also tried to help her brother Luv. However, Luv didn't seem to have his sister's luck. But reports are that she might work with her brother on screen soon.
Saif and Soha Ali Khan: Born to Sharmila Tagore and Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, the royal siblings have had a comfortable upbringing and always seem to share a comfortable relationship with one and another. Though Saif is one of the ruling Khans in the industry, Soha somehow hasn’t been able to quite land her big break in films. However, we hear Saif plays the elder big brother to the tee. They also have another sister Saba, who is a successful jewellery designer.
Sunny and Bobby Deol: Having famous actor Dharmedra as their father, Bobby and Sunny Deol have become one of the favourite Bollywood siblings. Though there is a considerable age difference between the two, they share a good equation which is evident in their films like Apne, Yamla Pagla Deewana and its sequel.
Zoya and Farhan Akhtar: Twins Zoya and Farhan Akhtar not only share a special closeness but have also been successful in teaming up together, when it comes to films. Farhan, who is an accomplished director himself, readily agreed to star in Zoya's directorial debut, Luck By Chance and later the twins once again made a huge hit with Zindagi Na Milegi Dobaara.
Ekta and Tusshar: Queen of Television, Ekta Kapoor has clearly done well for herself. Younger brother Tusshar has had a few ups and downs when it comes to his career graph. The siblings have never displayed too much of a closeness publicly. However, Ekta Kapoor has surely tried to give her brother's film career a bit of a push with films like Kya Kool Hain Hum, Shor in the City, Shootout at Wadala among others.
