‘CM’s statement had been omitted from day’s business’

Hinting at bias by Assembly Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal in allowing Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to make a statement in the House Tuesday, Leader of opposition Sunil Jakhar showed a copy of corrigendum released by the Assembly secretary to claim that the statement by the CM was omitted from the business listed for the day.

"We met the Speaker before the business advisory committee meeting to list issues on which we wanted a debate. We listed law and order for first day, sand and gravel mafia for second day and bribing of Lambi voters for the third day. Why was the CM insisting on an explanation today?," Jakhar said.

Later, in a press statement state Congress president Capt Amarinder Singh and Jakhar said: "The Congress party was ready to debate and discuss the issue raised by CM Badal but only after the issue of law and order is debated in the house," it said.
