The nodal officer for Tata Tele Services Limited, M N Vijayan, have told the court in the Aarushi-Hemraj murder case that a call was made around 6 am on May 16, 2008, from the landline at Talwar's Noida home to a mobile phone that Hemraj used to use.

Vijayan was produced as prosecution witness in the case against Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, parents of teenager Aarushi, who was murdered on the intervening night of on May 15 and 16, 2008. Domestic help Hemraj's body was found on the terrace of their home a day later.

The dentist couple, who have pleaded not guilty, had said they discovered Aarushi's body at 6 am and then looked for Hemraj, who was missing at the time.

"According to call detail records on May 16, there was a 'fructified' call of two seconds made from the number 0120 4316388 (landline at the Talwar home) to 9213515485 (a Tata CDMA phone number) at 6.10 am," Vijayan told the the court of Additional Sessions Judge Shyam Lal.

The mobile number belonged to Rajesh Talwar, and he had given it to Hemraj.

"The corresponding cell tower to the cellphone is 1362/254, which is located in Noida Sector-31 in Nithari. The tower has a radius of around 1 km," Vijayan said during cross-examination.

The second prosecution witness to be examined was R K Singh, the nodal officer for Bharti Airtel.

He was asked to reveal call detail records of nine mobile phone numbers — three of which belonged to Rajesh Talwar and the rest were owned by friends and family of the couple.

"I cannot tell what was said in the conversations between these numbers. I also cannot tell if the owners of the mobile phones were using the numbers themselves at the time these phone calls were made," Singh told the court.
