‘Green Diwali’ a bust: Pollution levels rise by over 80 per cent

Director Environment Santosh Kumar said: "The high levels of noise and pollution at Sector 29 is a cause for concern since its a silence zone. The RSPM levels in Sector 22 witnessed some decrease. For Sector 17 there was no data to compare with last year since measurements were taken here for the first time. The normal noise levels in the city stay at around 60 decibel. On Diwali these were substantially higher."
