I will work till I am 80

Never mind her one-film-at-a-time policy, Rani Mukerji says she is here for a long haul.

The box-office failure of her last release Aiyya hasn't dampened her spirits. Post Talaash, she does not have another film in the pipeline but the actor seems unruffled. Rani Mukerji has reached a stage where, she says, she will do films only on her terms and conditions. "It is for my fans that I keep coming back. I want to do films they will watch and like. But I assure you I will continue to work till I am 80," says Mukerji. The actor, for the first time, is part of a suspense drama the Reema Kagti-directed Talaash. Hence, she finds it difficult to divulge much. "I can't say much about the film or the character because then I will be giving leads into its plot. What I can say is that when the role was offered to me, I loved the challenge it posed, and decided to take it up instantly," she says.

With Aamir Khan paired opposite her after six years (after Mangal Pandey: The Rising), the audience is waiting to see their chemistry on the screen once again. "There is a lot of comfort between us. But then, there will always be a student-teacher relationship. No matter how much I gossip with him or fuss around him as a friend, on the set, I always behave myself because I am working with Aamir Khan," she says. Mukerji also reminisces about the time they did Ghulam together.

Mukerji has always been know for her versatility. But this realisation to do varied and substantial roles came around the time she did Kunal Kohli's Mujhse Dosti Karoge. "I took an eight month-sabbatical then. The first movie I signed after that was Saathiya. It was then that I realised that there is more beyond just earning bread and butter for your family," she recalls.
