Police said results of supplementary forensic examination were expected by Monday morning. The three accused are facing charges of murder, destruction of evidence and rape.
Senior Superintendent of Police Praveen Kumar said the woman knew Naresh and Kailash. "While Naresh was her colleague, Kailash was from the same locality. Kailash hatched a plot, with Naresh and Udayveer, to kill her. Naresh brought her to a spot near her home where the other two were waiting. They strangled her and then fled. Rape has not been proved so far. We are waiting for a report on the same," Kumar said.
A senior police officer said the family had alleged that Kailash had tried to molest her earlier. "He was infatuated with her and she kept rejecting his advances. He had even jumped the wall of her house and tried to enter her room, but was driven away by family members," the officer said. Police said five teams had been sent to nab Udayveer.
The officer said five constables had been suspended based on the family's allegations of police apathy. "Three constables, Ramesh, Avdesh and Omkar have been suspended for making derogatory remarks and not registering a complaint when the family initially went to the police chowki. Shailender and Rajkumar have been suspended for not patrolling in the area where the crime was committed," the officer said.
