The UT police registered a case against three unidentified people, who allegedly trespassed the Sector-7 residence of Y P Saggi, while his wife and he were at their son's house in the same sector for New Year celebration on December 31. The three persons allegedly entered the house after be-fooling the domestic help, whom they later locked in a room at 7.45 pm.
"I was watching television when three men rang the doorbell and said that the owner had called them. I opened the door and one of the three threatened me with a knife. He checked my pockets and took my mobile. The second one had a gun and the third was holding a cane. One of them said that I should be locked in the basement, while another said that I should be locked in a room at the back," said Hari, the servant.
He added, "As they took me to the room, one of them made a call and said that 'Saab' was not at home, what to do? They then locked me in the room and went around the house". Hari then managed to escape from the room by breaking a window pane and came to the front of the house. "I thought I would raise an alarm, but then I noticed that the house was empty and the main door was open".
The three persons took away the hard disc of the CCTV cameras along with the cameras. They also stole two mobile phones and a portable radio. Hari said that the faces of the three men were not covered, but after they entered the house, they covered their faces. He also claimed that he had not seen them before, but could identify them.
Saggi said, "We left the house around 7.30 pm to go to our son's house to celebrate the New Year, who lives in the same block, and by 8.15 pm the incident happened. We called the police and they registered a case on the statement of Hari".
