Accused held again as report confirms minor was raped
52-year-old accused is unemployed and lives with his wife, children and grandchildren.
The Samta Nagar police on Monday re-arrested a 52-year-old man for raping a six-year-old girl after her medical report confirmed rape. On December 13, the man was arrested for molestation and released on bail the next day.
Police said the accused, Babulal Patel , as well as the victim live in the Poisar slum area.
The incident took place around 11 am on December 12 when the victim was playing near Patel's residence.
The police said Patel was alone at home and took the victim inside his room and stripped her. The accused then allegedly raped the girl.
"After coming home, the victim told her parents who registered a case against the accused for molesting the girl," said a police officer from Samta Nagar police station.
Patel is unemployed and lives with his wife and middle-aged children and grandchildren.
The police had arrested Patel under Indian Penal Code Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and produced in a magistrate's court where he was released on a bail of Rs 20,000.
On Monday, however, the police received the medical reports of the girl from Bhagwati Hospital that suggested that the girl had been raped after which the police rearrested the accused on Monday.
