The much awaited showdown between Brett Lee and Piers Morgan generated expected results. The British journalist was not short of words, but short of shots he definitely was when faced with Lee's express pace during the Tea interval of the fourth Ashes Test on Friday.
The stage was set, and the crowd thronged around the nets -- the practice pitches were used for the Lee vs Morgan rubber. Both the participants were not short of support. Morgan had Michael Vaughan, while Lee was in company of spin wizard Shane Warne and almost all the fast bowlers from the Australian dressing room, including coach Craig McDermott, who were clearly enjoying the proceedings.
Morgan, it seems, wore the pads on the eve of the contest. He was all over Twitter and launched an all out attack against Lee, who would have only smirked reading the over confident statements. Morgan, on the eve of the battle, said how he would tackle shot stuff from Lee, and shared the advice he got from West Indian legend Sir Viv Richards.
There was plenty going around the MCG, but all eyes were on the nets when Morgan faced, or one would say ducked, fell, got hit, while facing one of the fastest bowlers in the history of cricket. Lee's 80 per cent effort, as the bowler said, was enough to keep Morgan hopping and popping on the batting crease. Lee used well-directed short deliveries to deliver some fierce blows on his body.
