AI unlikely to clear dues of AAI

Even as Air India has cleared a part of their dues with GMR Airports from the Rs 2,000 crore given by the government, dues of Airports Authority of India (AAI) is unlikely to be serviced.

"Of the Rs 2,000 crore, the dues of private airport operators and oil companies will be cleared. Since AAI is a government company, there is a decision to not pay any money from this infusion," said a senior civil aviation ministry official. AI owes Rs 1,500 crore to AAI. Meanwhile, GMR Infrastructure today said it has received payment of Rs 415 crore from Air India towards outstanding dues on account of various airport related charges.
