Ending a six month-wait, the Airport Metro link is set to resume operations on Tuesday.

The Delhi Airport Metro Express Private Limited (DAMEPL) announced that the Airport Metro will resume commercial operations at its regular time, starting 5.30 am Tuesday. The fare for each trip on Tuesday will be a nominal Rs 30.

"The line will run daily from 5.30 am to 11.30 pm with a service frequency of 15 minutes. Passengers can travel on the line at a nominal fare of Rs 30," the DAMEPL spokesperson said. The regular fare till the airport is Rs 80 while it is Rs 100 for Dwarka Sector 21.

The resumption of service was announced after the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety gave safety clearance to the 22.7-km corridor last Friday. The speed limit has been reduced to 50 kmph from 90-100 kmph.

The speed will be increased gradually after checks.

The Metro, developed under a public-private partnership, connects New Delhi railway station to Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The line terminates at Dwarka Sector-21.

Services on the line, which started commercial operations on February 23, 2011, were suspended on July 8, 2012 after defects were detected in the civil structures.

"In addition to single journey tokens, the airport line has introduced new products in the form of return journey tokens and Sunday/holiday discount tokens while retaining the monthly passes for regular commuters," the spokesperson said.

Facilities such as a cloak room, trolley and porter service, radio cab service, WiFi at stations will be available from Tuesday. But the baggage check-in infrastructure will resume shortly. It will be notified separately.

While the line connects Terminal 3, passengers using Terminal 1 can use this service from the Aerocity station. Arrangements are in place to provide seamless connectivity to Aerocity station via shared taxis and shuttle buses.
