After getting the charge of Department of Commerce and Industries Amit Mitra, who, earlier, held the portfolio of finance and excise today came with some offers for industrialists.

At a seminar at Bengal Chamber of Commerce in Kolkata, Amit Mitra held out a clear cut plan for industrialists of the state.

"We have 23 industrial parks in the state in which we have 3,236 acres of land for industries.  And for those who are willing to set up big industries, we have large chunks of land at Raghunathpur (Purulia), Kharagpur (West Midnapore), Panagarh (Burdwan) and Goaltore (West Midnapore). At industrial parks, we have developed land but those entrepreneurs who want to invest at those four places can come to us and we will provide them relationship managers,'' Mitra told entrepreneurs at his first interaction as Industry Minister.

Last month, chief minister Mamata Banerjee introduced the concept of relationship managers who will help entrepreneurs get through their proposals. The managers are actually officials of joint secretary level of the state government to be deputed for this purpose. "So far we have got more than five such managers,'' Mitra said.

The new minister for industries also gave some other proposals to the entrepreneurs which they appreciated. "I have got three suggestions. You adopt at least 20 ITIs whom you provide technical help. You can also help by becoming mentors of polytechnics and also by setting up training centres for young people so that they can become skilled employees,'' Mitra said.

The industrialists said they would consider the proposals. "He seems to have started with right earnest but what we need today is things like improvement in infrastructure,'' Kallol Dutta, President of the Bengal Chamber told The Indian Express.
