Ex-councillor arrested for assault beaten in jail

Kapurthala:The ex -councillor who was arrested by Jalandhar police in an assault case recently was himself assaulted in Kapurthala Modern jail on Saturday. He was taken to Civil hospital in Kapurthala for treatment. Ex Congress councillor Dinesh Dhall, who was booked along with his brother and sitting councillor Amit Dhall and two more, was arrested in an assault case on Cool Road in which three persons were injured on Tuesday.

Mutual training session for athletes

Jalandhar:Canadian Sports Minister Bal Gonsal, on Saturday, advocated joint training programmes between Canadian and Punjab athletes and said he would discuss the issue with Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal on Monday. Bal, who originally hails from Punjab, said that Canadian athletes could get training in summer sports like kabbadi while Indian players could be trained in winter sports like ice hockey and skating.
