CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh police sent a written intimation to Panjab University, saying that observers should be appointed by the University authorities for checking the expenditure incurred by student groups on election campaigns.

Dummy bomb kept to test police

CHANDIGARH: A dummy explosive device was kept at the Sector-15 Patel Market to test the police's alertness. In response to a call, PCR vehicles, police station staff, the bomb squad, the operation cell and anti-sabotage team rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.
