Assistant station master shot at by colleague

The assistant station master (ASM) of Salempur railway station in Deoria district was shot at by his colleague who worked as a booking clerk at the same railway station on Saturday morning. The victim sustained critical injuries and was undergoing treatment at Gorakhpur Medical College. The accused is yet to be arrested.

According to government railway police (GRP) officials, ASM Vijay Kumar Mishra (45) and booking clerk Upendra Singh (35) were having an informal chat at platform-1 in the morning when their conversation led to heated arguments. The verbal duel soon turned into a physical scuffle, after which Singh fired three rounds at Mishra. Bhatni GRP station In-Charge Baijnath said the exact reason for the scuffle was not known. He said there was no enmity between Mishra, a resident of Deoria, and Singh, a resident of Siwan district in Bihar. He said it was only a spontaneous argument which turned into a fight.

Baijnath said that during the scuffle, Mishra struck Singh on the ground. After this Singh fired three shots from his gun which hurt Mishra on his leg, waist and one gunshot grazed through his face.

An FIR has been lodged against Singh under various sections of IPC.
