Auto parts manufacturers’ body takes up ‘mixed land use’ with mayor

Mayor Harcharan Singh

A number of factories located in 'mixed land use' areas cannot do their expansion because till now they have not been given clearance by the Municipal Corporation. This has hampered the growth of industrial units in many areas.

This was stated by the members of the Auto Parts Manufacturers' Association at the general body meeting held on Monday night. Mayor H S Gohalwaria, who was the chief guest, assured that he would go through the pending files.

Ranjodh Singh, general secretary of the association, said, "Our members having units in Janta Nagar and the surrounding areas cannot even buy a single machine, cannot enhance any electricity load."

However, the mayor asked the industrialists to take care of their surroundings as well. He invited them to take care of the greenbelts in Focal Point by forming park management committees (PMCs) which can make the area clean and green.

The industrialists agreed to maintain two parks by forming PMCs.

The mayor added, "The residents also need to realise their duties. We are also accountable for the works."

G S Kahlon, president of the association, said, "We are already maintaining one park outside our auto parts building in Focal Point and now will take care of two more. No doubt, the green belts are in deplorable condition in Focal Point, but industrialists also need to share some responsibilities."

Besides, the association members spoke about the auto parts cluster for which they had already acquired 25 acres in Kohara and nominated members to run the cluster.

The members were told that in case of overseas exhibitions, the participant can get up to 70% subsidy from the government. They were also told about subsidies in equipment and many other schemes as well which a number of them were not availing as yet.
