Bansal back in city, Cong leaders told to put up show of(f) strength

BansalCongress leaders will meet on Sunday to express solidarity with Bansal.

Amidst heavy security, local MP Pawan Kumar Bansal arrived in the city on Saturday with his wife and sons. Bansal had been camping in Delhi, ever since the controversy over the appointments in railways emerged.

There were speculations throughout the day among the leaders of the Chandigarh unit of Congress about the arrival of Bansal. All was quiet outside his house, that is normally bustling with activities, especially over the weekends, when Bansal holds his public meetings.

All roads leading to his house had heavy police presence. The BJP, during his absence, had more than once held protests outside his house that had turned violent with party workers clashing with Congress workers.

The city Congress leaders would hold a meeting on Sunday to express solidarity with Bansal and decide on the future course of action. A beleaguered Congress has asked its party leaders to be present at Bansal's residence on Sunday morning.

Interestingly, each Congress leader has been asked to bring along 8-10 people in order to ensure that the numbers do not fall short and an image of the party supporting Bansal can be portrayed.

One of the Congress leaders said, "It seems that there is a fear that the numbers might fall short. We have been told to bring along some people from our areas when we visit Bansal's residence".

Another leader stated that a meeting would be held to discuss the future course of action. The BJP has been in an overdrive in the past week, by holding protests and leveling allegations. In fact, the BJP has been claiming that whenever Bansal makes any attempt to hold an event in the city, the party will wave black flags at him at the venue. Within BJP, the issue has given a platform to its three leaders Satya Pal Jain, Harmohan Dhawan and Sanjay Tandon to indulge in one upmanship.
