Beant death: HC grants two-day parole to convict

The Punjab and Haryana High Court, on Friday, granted two-day parole to Shamsher Singh, one of the convicts in former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh's assassination case.

An application filed by Singh came up for hearing before a bench headed by Justice Rajive Bhalla. Singh had sought parole for December 9 and 10 to attend two marriages in Kamrpur village in Patiala district.

Shamsher is lodged in Burail jail. The court directed the Chandigarh and the Punjab police to ensure complete security of the convict. The court further directed that he should be taken out of the jail on December 9 morning and should be put back behind bars in the evening and the same procedure should be followed on December 10.
