Beat CPM workers as you beat snake: Trinamool Congress minister Jyotipriyo Mullick

Trinamool Congress minister Jyotipriyo Mullick on Thursday in a fresh offensive against arch-rival, the CPM, exhorted his supporters to beat up CPM workers as they beat snakes.

Speaking at a public rally in Birati in North 24-Parganas, Mullick, who holds the portfolio of Food and Supply Department in Mamata Banerjee's cabinet, said: "What will you do to a snake if it sneaks into your room? You will beat them up. The way we deal with the cobras when they sneak into your home, you must deal with similar ruthlessness with CPM." "We can't help if people beat them up," he said giving an indirect threat to the CPM cadres ahead of the panchayat polls in the state.

Mullick's latest remark comes amidst the recent political violence in neighbouring South 24-Parganas where Trinamool strongman Arabul Islam and his supporters beat up former CPM minister Abdur Rezzak Mollah.

This is not the first time that Mullick has spitted venom against the CPM. Earlier, he had told his party supporters to socially boycott CPM cadres by not talking to them or sharing with them or inviting them to weddings.

Today also, he made similar appeal and went to the extent of naming CPM leaders Prakash Karat, Sitaram Yechury and Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee "who should be boycotted by the people". He described former chief minister as "rotten face."
