Conscious that the absence of regional satraps like Narendra Modi and BS Yedyurappa could overshadow the focus of its national executive meet in Mumbai next week, the BJP leadership has redoubled efforts to seek their participation at the conclave.
Senior party leaders are in touch with Modi and Yeddyurappa, trying to prevail upon them to drop their dissidence and attend the Mumbai meet. Arun Jaitley has emerged as the key troubleshooter and is believed to have talked to Modi.
Both Modi and Yedyurappa have signalled that they will stay away from the meeting. Modi failed to attend the last national executive meet in Delhi.
Yedyurappa told reporters in Bangalore on Saturday that he would skip the Mumbai meet in the backdrop of the central leadership not acceding to his demands.
The national meet is expected to focus on the non-governance of the UPA.
4 more infants die at Valley hospital
SRINAGAR: Four more infants died at GB Pant Hospital in Srinagar, following which relatives of the children admitted in the hospital staged a demonstration and blocked the Srinagar-Jammu highway for an hour on Saturday.
The deaths were reported late Friday, a few hours after CM Omar Abdullah visited the hospital and assured relatives of the patients better facilities. More than 350 infants have reportedly died at Kashmir's lone children's hospital in the past five months.
