BJP leader held for rape

A Delhi BJP leader, who had unsuccessfully contested the 2008 Assembly elections, was arrested on the charge of raping a woman in Outer Delhi, police said on Saturday. Yogesh Attray, who lost in the election to Delhi Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan, was arrested on Friday after the woman, an NGO worker, filed a complaint on Thursday. Police said Attray was booked under Sections 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), 509 (intending to insult the modesty of woman) and 313 (causing miscarriage without woman's consent). The victim alleged that the accused had promised her that he would divorce his wife and marry her. Police said Attray had also forced the victim to undergo several abortions.
