BJP to protest against CM’s ‘reluctance’ to discuss city issues

Getting aggressive against the Congress-NCP government in state, the opposition led by BJP has decided to hold protest across city on Saturday alleging that the chief minister Prithviraj Chavan is deliberatly denying time to legislators to discuss issues related to city.

"We have been asking chief minister time to discuss issues related to city but he has been denying it. He will be visiting city tomorrow but he again turned down the request for a meeting," said BJP legislator Girish Bapat. He said there are various development projects pending with the state government and its delay is going to put additional financial burden of the city.

To bring the city issues to his notice during his visit, the BJP will hold protest at five places in the city between 10.30 am to 12 noon. The protest under leadership of Girish Bapat at Council hall will to highlight delay in formation of PMRDA while the protest at MHADA office will focus on delay in approving 2.5 FSI for MHADA buildings.

At Swargate, city BJP chief Anil Shirole and legislator Madhuri Misal would criticise failure in improving PMPML and delaying flyover work. Legislator Bhimrao Tapkir will hold protest at Rajaram bridge to condemn the water pollution in Mutha river while party leader Dhiraj Ghate would protest at SRA office for not approving the rules for SRA projects.

Bapat said, "There is lack of will and also differences within the Congress and NCP that has been hampering the development of city," he alleged. Shiv Sena legislator Neelam Gorhe said the party would file a PIL against state government decision to reject commission report on Adarsh scam. "The report names three chief ministers, two ministers and 12 officers. It is an organised crime. The state government should seek resignation of the ministers and suspend the officers found guilty," she said.
