BJP will announce name of Delhi’s new party chief next week
It appears that BJP has started its preparations for the Delhi Assembly elections to be held by the end of the year.
Senior BJP leaders met on Tuesday to discuss the party's preparations for the elections, national council and upcoming budget session.
The leaders who attended the meeting said the name of the new Delhi BJP chief will be announced in a week's time.
"There are a few names doing rounds for the post of Delhi BJP president. With Assembly election approaching, it is the right time to announce the name of the party president. Leaders that represent us in the Centre have to decide the person and it will be announced in a week's time. It may even be announced in a day or two as BJP President Rajnath Singh is back in Delhi," co-in-charge, BJP Delhi, Ramehswar Parsad Chaurasia said.
According to another senior BJP leader, three names doing the rounds for the post of Delhi party chief are those of the present Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta, former president Harshvardhan and senior leader Vijay Goel.
"We believe all three of them are strong contenders and have the experience needed to sail BJP through the elections. We have been in the opposition for a long time. Now, is the time to put an experienced hand as the party chief and win elections," a senior BJP leader said.
The meeting also discussed the demonstration to PM's house on March 20. The leader of the three corporations have been given charge of making arrangements for the approximately 5,000 party men who will be attending the party council meet in the Capital.
