Bombay High Court seeks state stand on Official Secrets Act application

The Bombay HC Wednesday directed the state for its stand regarding the application of the Official Secrets Act, 1923.

The court's directions came in response to a petition by a journalist against whom an FIR was filed under the Act.

The journalist, P K Trivedi alias Akela, had written an article on the condition of the storage area of sophisticated weapons at an armoury at CST in June 2010.

The court sought to know if there was any board stating that it was a prohibited area and whether there was any notification to that effect.
