3-year-old raped in West Bengal
BURDWAN: A three-year-old girl was allegedly raped and later abandoned at Goai village here on Monday. The police said preliminary test reports suggest that the girl was raped. Alerted by the girl's screams, a local spotted her lying behind a bush with injury marks on her body. The police have not been able to trace the child's parents yet. Efforts are on to nab the miscreants.
Chakma refugees and Singphos clash
ITANAGAR: The situation in Miao town here remained tense for the third day on Tuesday after a clash between Chakma refugees and indigenous Singphos over a plot of land on Sunday. Violence erupted after some Chakma refugees burnt down houses of the Singpho community who were residing on land belonging to Thuing Singpho.
BSF arrests 2, fake currency notes seized
GUWAHATI: Two persons were apprehended by the BSF from Dhubri district of Assam on Monday. The BSF also seized fake currency notes with a face value of Rs 50,000 from them. The two, Hakim Ali Sarkar (32) and Suleman Ali (38), were picked up from a hotel at Gauripur town when they had come for delivery of a consignment. The fake currency notes were brought from a village in Bangladesh.
SSB ammo on moving train goes missing
lucknow: Four INSAS rifle, one SMG rifle and other ammunition of Sashastra Seema Bal have been reported missing from a train returning back to Gorakhpur from Gujarat, the police said Tuesday. Deputy Commandant SSB Sunil Soni informed Government Railway Police Kasganj Tuesday about the missing arms and ammunition, they said. A case has been lodged at GRP Lucknow.
4 ULFA hardcore cadres surrender
Guwahati: Four hardcore cadres, belonging to the anti-talk faction of United Liberation Front of Asom , Tuesday surrendered along with arms and ammunition at Tinsukia in Assam.
