Rs 20 lakh aid for slain UP soldier's family
Lucknow:Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday announced a financial assistance of Rs 20 lakh for the family of Lance Naik Hemraj, who was killed in an attack by Pakistani troops in Mendhar. He termed the mutilation of Hemraj's body as barbaric and highly condemnable. The martyred soldier hailed from Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.
Chinese firm wants to set up factory
Lucknow:MingHe Group of China has shown interest in setting up a lead-acid battery manufacturing unit in UP. A team of the company met Infrastructure and Industrial Development Commissioner (IIDC) Anil Kumar Gupta in this regard on Thursday. The Chinese delegation led by Zhang Yang, general manager of MingHe group had a discussion with IIDC about the incentives available to new industrial units here. The company intends to invest around Rs 500 crore to manufacture lead-acid storage batteries, such as electric vehicle storage battery, heavy equipment storage battery and fixed storage batteries.
RLD meets Governor on zila panchayat poll
Lucknow:The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) state president Munna Singh Chauhan met Governor B L Joshi on Thursday and requested to direct the state government to conduct election of the zila panchayat chairman in Mathura. Chauhan gave a memorandum to the Governor and said that elections of zila panchayat chairman have to be conducted in 29 districts but the state government has issued election notification for 28 districts only, leaving out Mathura. Chauhan said that the state government was avoiding to conduct election in Mathura because it has an apprehension that RLD candidate will win the poll. "The former zila panchayat chairman of Mathura was also from RLD," Chauhan said.
