Couple found dead in Mathura

Lucknow:Mathura police found the bodies of a couple with bullet injuries in an open field in Avrani village under Baldeo police circle on Saturday night. Identified as Narendra Singh (20) and his neighbour Veeru Singh (17), the couple had been missing since December 31 but no missing report had been lodged with the police.

The police said both bodies had one bullet injury mark each in the head. A country-made pistol was found on the spot.

Marthura SSP Pradeep Kumar Yadav said the field where the bodies were found is around 250 metre from the victim's house. However, no villager claimed to have heard any gunshots. The girl's father, Pooran Singh, a farmer, has lodged an FIR of murder against unidentified men. Both, Narendra and Veeru belonged to the same caste, and Narendra used to help his father Karwa Singh in farming. Station Officer of Baldev police station Anil Yadav said family members of the victims did not come to the spot where the bodies were found. However, they claimed the bodies after post-mortem.

Rs 2 lakh aid for Hathras girl's family

Rs 2 lakh to the family of the teenage girl who died after she was allegedly burnt by a youth for resisting sexual harassment in Hathras district. The girl died on Saturday morning at a hospital in Aligarh where she was getting treatment for her burn injuries. A government spokesperson said that the CM has announced to give Rs 2 lakh to the family of the girl.

Minor girl 'raped' in Sambhal

Sambhal:A minor girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Asmoli area of the district, police said on Sunday. The 13-year-old victim was on her way to a market on January 2 when she was dragged to a secluded place by the accused, identified as Sonu and raped by him, they said. On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim's family members, the accused was arrested last night. Further probes are on, they added. PTI
