Islamabad: Pakistan People's Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will make his formal entry into the hurly burly of Pakistani politics at an event to be held Thursday to mark the fifth death anniversary of his mother Benazir Bhutto. "Bilawal will make his entry into active politics during the meeting to be held at Garhi Khuda Bux (in Sindh) and take over the PPP's campaign for next year's general election," a confidant of President Asif Ali Zardari said.

Netflix back online after outage

New York: Netflix service has been fully restored after a Christmas Eve outage denied many the opportunity to stream video on TVs, tablets and PCs. A Netflix Inc. spokesman said by email Tuesday morning that the service has been fully restored. The outage affected customers in the Americas starting around 12:30 pm PST (830 pm GMT) on Monday.

UK broadcasts Queen's 3D Christmas message

London: Queen Elizabeth II has scripted history by becoming the first UK royal to broadcast in 3D the traditional Christmas message. The 86-year-old monarch's 3D broadcast message — filmed at Buckingham Palace was — interspersed with footage from the large-scale UK events of 2012, BBC News reported.

Russia House backs anti-US adoption bill

Moscow: The upper chamber of Russia's parliament has unanimously voted in favour of a measure banning Americans from adopting Russian children. It now goes to President Vladimir Putin to sign or turn down. The bill is one part of a larger measure by lawmakers retaliating against a recently signed US law that calls for sanctions against Russians deemed to be human rights violators.
