The BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) has trained over 1,000 neighbourhood electricians on the essentials of internal wiring and meters. Close to 250 electricians, mainly nominees of residents' welfare associations (RWAs), attended the two training sessions recently conducted at Safdurjung Enclave in South Delhi and Tilak Nagar in West Delhi.
BRPL' in-house experts conducted these trainings, which included "exhaustive inputs to enhance skills and knowledge of electricians to ensure safety of all household electrical goods as well as that of consumers".
BRPL CEO Gopal Saxena said: "The fact that we have been receiving many requests from RWAs and other stakeholders, urging us to conduct training programmes for their electricians, shows the effectiveness and success of such workshops. There is a pressing need to create a pool of trained and well-informed electricians."
A BRPL spokesperson said the neighborhood electricians were informed about various issues relating to internal house wiring, prevention of short-circuits and electrical fires and importance of installing earth leakage circuit breakers (ELCBs) and its various functions.
"BRPL also invited reputed manufacturers to share the training platform to interact with electricians. The programme also mentored the participants on energy conservation — teaching them how to determine whether the appliance is electrically efficient or not," the official said.
