Can’t put face to attacker, says Geelani

A day after alleged Samjhauta Express bomber Rajender Choudhary "confessed" to his role in the firing on S A R Geelani, the Delhi University teacher said he can't put a face to his attacker.

"I was never contacted by the authorities after the attack. The investigating agencies should look beyond this one person as this cannot be the doing of one person alone; someone in the system was involved in the shooting," he said.

Geelani was acquitted in the Parliament attack case on October 29, 2003. On February 8, 2005, he was shot at while on his way to meet his lawyer, Nandita Haskar. "I was walking towards her house when I was shot at." He took five bullets and spent 22 days in the ICU of AIIMS. "A year before the shooting I had filed an affidavit in the Supreme Court stating that my life was in danger," Geelani said, adding he was "chased by" the agencies. "I know that the system had not taken it (acquittal) very well, they followed me everywhere."
