Bajwa was on his way to Amritsar and he held a brief meeting with the councillors at the city railway station on Saturday. He told them that the proposed property tax would have an adverse impact across the state and urged them to protest agsinst it tooth and nail. "Property tax would severely hit the people who are already facing unemployment, inflation," Bajwa told the leaders. Seemingly taking his cue, the councillors began demanding a discussion on the issue as soon as they entered the House but the Mayor straaightaway declined.
