Chopade and Shaikh shine with all-round performances

All rounders Soloman Chopade and Azhar Shaikh proved to be match-winners for Kotak Mahindra Bank and Shree Shradha Sahakari Bank respectively in the second edition of the Kartavya Foundation Inter Bank T20 Cricket Championship Cup at the Poona Club ground.

Kotak Mahindra Bank, chasing a modest 103-run target set by Reserve Bank of India, did well to end up with a nine-wicket win, while Shree Shradha Sahakari Bank followed suit overcoming Union Bank of India by seven wickets.

Riding on Chopade's two-wicket haul and unbeaten half century, Kotak Mahindra Bank were never in trouble. Their opponents Reserve Bank of India, who elected to bat after winning the toss, were restricted to 102 for nine with Vipul Jeurkar's two-wicket haul ably aiding Chopade.

In reply, Kotak Mahindra had Chopade score the only half century of the day off just 22 balls to see his team through in the ninth over.

Later, in the second match of the day, Union Bank of India were shot out for a paltry 76 with Mohammad Tahir's 39-run defiant knock holding the innings together. Azhar Shaikh ripped through the batting order claiming four wickets while conceding just 14 runs.

In reply, Shree Shradha Sahakari Bank overcame the target as Mandar Dedge's quick fire 37 and Shaikh's unbeaten 26 hastening victory.
