CID gives Gadkari clean chit again

CID has reportedly again given a clean chit to BJP president Nitin Gadkari in the Yogita Thakre case. Yogita (7), daughter of maid Vimal Thakre, was found dead in a car parked on the Gadkari residential premises in Nagpur on May 19, 2009.

While post-mortem found vaginal bleeding and death due to impact of a hard object, CID claimed the girl suffocated to death as the car got locked after she entered it while playing. Labour activist Jammu Anand said on Thursday state CID, which was asked to re-investigate the case by a lower court last year after it filed a closure report, filed another closure report last month once again terming it accidental death and ruling out congnisable offence.

"We have no faith in state agencies and demand a CBI probe. We also demand Gadkari be made co-accused with then commissioner of police Pravin Dixit, then senior inspector R M Katole, head of Government Medical College forensic science department P G Dixit, professor of forensic science T M Dahake, then CID DSP K M Rajput, then CID SP Yashasvi Yadav and then assistant PSI Jeetlal Yadav," said the president of Gharelu Kamgar (Molkarin) Sanghatan.

Responding to the "repeated" claim by Gadkari over the past few days that those who had accused him of rape in the undertrial case had fallen flat, Anand said the BJP chief was trying to "wipe clean" his own face by unilaterally absolving himself. He said a delegation would soon meet Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to press for a CBI probe.

Asked if he would oppose the CID findings in court, Anand said, "We will do that after we know the court's response to the fresh CID report. We are here today because Gadkari is telling people he has come clean in the matter." He said the case was likely to come up for hearing soon. "It's nobody's claim that Gadkari committed rape. What we have been saying is someone close to Gadkari and who knows his house inside out is involved in the case," Anand said.
