City Briefs: Mulayam nephew is national secy of Yuvjan Sabha

Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav Monday appointed his nephew Anurag Yadav alias Deepu as national secretary of Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha - a frontal organisation of the party. Anurag is brother of Badaun MP Dharmendra Yadav and son of Mulayam's brother Abhay Ram. Anurag has been given the responsibility of electioneering in Madhya Pradesh.

Theft at retired policeman's house<\b>

Thieves decamped with valuables worth lakhs from the house of a retired policeman after making the family members unconscious by spraying drugs, in the Rail Bazar area, police said. The theft at sub-inspector Gyan Prakash's house came to light when the family woke up Sunday morning, a police spokesperson said. The victims found the almirahs open and gold and silver jewelleries worth Rs 30 lakh, two mobile phones and Rs 26,000 cash are missing. The spokesman said it could be the handiwork of somebody known to the family.

16-year-old girl raped by youth<\b>

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth at Joli village in the district, police said Monday. The Dalit girl had gone to collect water from a public handpump Sunday when the youth called her on some pretext and raped her, they said. A complaint has been lodged by the father of the girl against the youth, who is absconding. The girl has been sent for medical examination. ENS
