Moniti Kapoor

She fainted while returning after the recess, declared dead on arrival at GMSH-16

A student of Class VIII studying at Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 16, died after fainting in school on Tuesday. While the post-mortem report ascertained the cause of death as a cardiac arrest, doctors are awaiting the CFSL report to know the exact reason.

Moniti Kapoor fainted while returning to her class as the recess got over. She was taken to a hospital by the school authorities and was declared dead on arrival by doctors. As per the post-mortem report, she suffered a cardiac arrest. Reportedly, her younger brother had also died under similar circumstances in November 2011.

Moniti was a resident of Nayagaon. "I do not know what happened to her. She was fine when she went to school," said Sonia, her mother.

She added that Moniti ate her breakfast and went to school in the school bus. "I had given the same breakfast to my brother's children as well and both the children are fine. Also, the tiffin that I had packed for her was the same as for the other two children," said Sonia.

Sonia, who runs a boutique and a beauty parlour, lives with her parents. "My entire family is finished," said the wailing mother when the doctors told her the news. Her husband had died in 2011.

As per the mother, Moniti had a good health. But her classmates said she had not been well of late. "She told us that she had fainted but was fine after some time," said one of her friends.

The post-mortem was conducted in the Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16. The cause of death has been ascertained as a cardiac arrest. The team of forensic experts sent her viscera for analysis to Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, and for chemical analysis to the Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory.
