A day after minister of state for revenue and rehabilitation Vinod Kumar alias Pandit Singh submitted his resignation over alleged assault and abduction of a CMO from Gonda, the state government transferred four officials from Gonda district including DM, SP, CDO and the aggrieved CMO.
The state government also constituted a probe in the whole incident to be conducted by the divisional commissioner of Lucknow division. The report will be submitted within a week's time. This is the first official reaction from the state government coming after six days of the incident.
As per an official press release, the state government took strong note of the alleged misbehaviour and abduction of CMO, Gonda by minister of state Pandit Singh and removed DM Abhay, SP Kripa Shanker, CDO Arvind Kumar and the aggrieved CMO Dr S P Singh.
Roshan Jacob will be the new DM while Navneet Rana will be the SP. Munni Lal Pandey will be the new CDO while no CMO has been posted. The charge of CMO has been handed over to the senior most deputy CMO in the district.
An official spokesperson of the state government informed newsmen that divisional commissioner of Lucknow division Sanjeev Mittal will probe the incident. Besides the alleged incident, he will also probe the role of officials concerned during the incident. The probe will also include the responsibility of the officials during the incident and whether they performed their duties in a responsible manner.
The state government has also announced that though the result of appointment of contractual AYUSH doctors has been declared, further action will taken after the inquiry report.
Pandit Singh, who had resigned from his post on Friday, had raised fingers over the role of district level officials. "Both the DM and CDO have left the district since Monday when the incident took place. Both of them were in the committee which selected the candidates. There role should be investigated," Pandit Singh had stated while submitting his resignation.
