Missing in action

It has become routine for the Congress councillors to be missing from the events organized by the MC. The internal disputes in the party are stated to be one of the reasons for the same. This was visible at the Rose Festival when most of the BJP-SAD councillors were present, while the Congress councillors were conspicuous by their absence. The BJP leaders stated that while the Congress might be in majority in the House, outside, the party is nowhere to be seen.

Groping in the dark

Police personnel manning the control room at Panchkula literally grope in the dark after the electricity goes off. The police personnel have to put on the lights of their cell-phones to do the work. Police personnel say that they are working on a makeshift arrangement and the work for the new office in the Secretariat building has been going on for quite some time. The current PCR, which caters to the Panchkula district, does not have the facility to connect with the main generator that is being used to supply the light to the entire Secretariat complex in Sector 1 in the city.

Home ground

To the relief of senior superintendent of police (SSP) oper, he has finally received his salary after he managed to get his transfer orders revoked after nearly three months of lobbying. Though the SSP had earlier claimed that he had received his salary for the month of January, the officials at the section office had the paperwork ready which said that his salary has been blocked as per the orders by the Administrator.

Master Blaster in Action

As the India vs Australian Test Series gets underway, the cricket fans in the region are waiting anxiously for the third test match that starts at the PCA Stadium in Mohali from March 14. After Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar bid goodbye to ODI cricket, he will be seen in action during the third test match in Mohali, that will provide a chance to his fans to see him in action in whites. The contest between Sachin and the Aussies pacers will be intriguing and high octane.
