Confusion over admission process at Bishop’s School

Chaos and confusion prevailed at the Bishop's school on Tuesday after a technical glitch in the school's admission process.

As many as 50 parents who had applied for their child's admission protested outside the school on Tuesday. The school had sent out the admission list through emails and SMSes. Parents wanted the names displayed on the school website or school premises.Parents alleged that the school had said that the list would be displayed on their website on Tuesday.

As per the school authorities, a lucky draw for the Lower Kinder Garten (LKG) for Camp school and nursery for Undri branch was taken out. This was done in the presence of Vandana Shinde, Zilla Parishad education department staff, parent teacher representatives from the school's three branches and other school authorities.

"Once the list was ready, we updated the personalised account of the applicants and started sending out SMSes to parents whose child have secured admission," a school official said.

"Since, we adopted this system for the first time, some technical error cropped up and all 590 applicants of Camp school and 450 from Undri school received the SMS saying they have secured admission. This led to immense confusion and the parents gathered outside the school campus protesting against the school. We will solve the problem soon," the official added.

However, the parents alleged that there was no lucky draw. If they had made a list then why can't they display it on website or school board, said a parent requesting anonymity.
