Cong seeks CBI probe, says Johar grabbed ‘The Hub’ land

A Congress leader on Thursday sought a CBI probe to unearth the nexus between Revenue Minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia and Maninder Singh alias Sunny Johar, the person accused of beating Assistant IG S S Mand.

Former Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira also demanded an investigation into the alleged role played by Mand in helping Johar grab a land on which he now runs his restaurant, The Hub.

Khaira claimed that a US-based NRI, Hardial Hundal, has alleged that the land on which The Hub is situated belongs to his (Hundal's) family. He said that Johar had forcibly grabbed land in 2008 as he had political backing.

Khaira said that the Akali Dal's argument that Johar was no longer a member of Youth Akali Dal was totally false, misleading and an attempt to divert public criticism.

"Congress leader Lally Majithia had also produced copies of FIR against Johar, when he was found threatening Congress workers in Majitha during 2012 Assembly elections," Khaira said,
