NHRC seeks report on Bhandara rape-murder
The National Human Rights Commission issued a notice to the Maharashtra government in the case of rape and murder of three sisters from Murmadi village in Bhandara district. "The NHRC has taken suo motu cognisance of the case and has issued a notice to the state chief secretary calling for a report within four weeks," it said in a statement. The state police are working on leads to solve the case, Additional DGP Ahmed Javed Akhtar said Thursday.
"We are analysing various aspects but haven't reached any inference yet. Ten teams have been formed to look into different angles," Akhtar said.
The three sisters, aged 10, nine and six were found dead in a well about two km from their village on February 16.
