Delhi gangrape bloodstained clothes of assailant recovered

Delhi gang rape

Two other men were targeted earlier, none filed police complaint

The mobile phones and a few of the clothes that belong to the 23-year-old Delhi bus gangrape victim and her friend have been recovered from the house of prime accused in the case, Ram Singh, police said. They also found Singh's bloodstained clothes from the house.

Interrogation of the men in custody revealed that they had assaulted two men before they picked up the woman and her friend, a 28-year-old engineer, on Sunday night. But while the first did not approach the police, the second tried but failed.

The first victim, a truck driver, was beaten following an argument after the bus crashed into the truck in RK Puram Sector-3, police said. Scared, the truck driver did not file a police complaint.

Moving on from the spot, the men offered a ride to a carpenter, Ram Adhar (35). After Adhar got on the bus, the men demanded that he hand over all valuables his wallet containing Rs 1,400 and a Nokia C2 phone, police said.

After looting Adhar, the men assaulted him, tore his clothes and dumped him near IIT Flyover. Injured and disoriented, Adhar tried stopping vehicles on road, but did not get any help, he said in his statement to police. He then walked to Hauz Khan Metro station, from where the police personnel told him to go to Vasant Vihar police station, the statement said.

It was the driver of a three-wheeler who offered to help Adhar and offered him a lift till Khanpur, police said based on the statement. After reaching home, Adhar confided in a friend, who took him to the police the following day.

"They have registered a case and conducted his (Adhar's) medical examination. He has injuries on the back, legs and hands," Adhar's friend said.
