Despite chill, fans warmed with five-wicket win

The early morning fog and chill could not dampen the spirits of fans whose number swelled as the day progressed at the PCA Stadium in Mohali during the

fourth ODI match between India and England opn Wednesday.

Mohali might have had low temperature of six degrees Celsius in the morning, but the bright sunshine brought life to the match and what brought smiles on the fans faces was India's five-wicket triumph over the visitors that ensured series win for the hosts.

The PCA stadium which was full-house in attendance erupted in joy when Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning runs. The usual beating of the dhol and bhangra in the aisles, the speakers blaring out Punjabi music, blowing of whistles was missing but the Mexican waves, the crowd chanting slogans made up for everything. The fans kept waving the Indian flags till the end to show their loyalty and thrill.

Speaking to Chandigarh Newsline, Yuvraj Singh's fan, Prakriti Malhotra, 19, said, "I wanted to see Yuvraj in action along with my brother, but I could get just one ticket. I am a huge Yuvraj fan, and the fact that he missed last IPL due to his disease made me more excited. It was his first ODI appearance since his recovery, so I wanted to witness the game. He fielded well. I wish he had scored more." Yuvraj made just three runs in the match, while his mother Shabnam Singh watched him in action from the Corporate Box at the stadium. Suresh Raina scored an unbeaten knock of 89 runs while Rohit Sharma made 83 runs to romp India home.
