NaMo vs PC: a fake encounter

With all focus now on the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, the country's two major political parties are intensifying the war of words. The latest encounter on economic performance turned out to be more amusing than murky when BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi claimed that the GDP growth during Vajpayee's government was 8.4%. Reading the news item, Congress's finance minister P Chidambaram was quick to issue a statement, correcting Modi. "Nothing can be further from the truth" as the average growth during BJP's term was 6% while it was indeed 8.4% during UPA-I term and 7.3% during the first four years of UPA-II. "I wonder why Sri Narendra Modi should stage a fake encounter with facts. Ultimately, facts will prevail," said Chidambaram.
