Engineering admissions: Computer Science first choice of toppers

As the second merit list for joint admission to city engineering colleges was declared, computer science engineering again turned out to be the first choice of students securing high ranks. Second in line is electronics engineering, followed by civil engineering.

The second merit list for admission to PEC University of Technology, Sector 14, University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) in Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (CCET), Sector 26, University Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (UICET) in PU, Swami Sarvanand Giri Panjab University Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur, (SSGPURC) and Chandigarh College of Architecture (CCA), Sector 12 was declared on Wednesday.

The cut-off ranks (both opening and closing) for nearly all the institutions has gone up this year, compared with last year.

In the Chandigarh category, the opening and closing ranks for Computer Science were 22,104 and 31,212, respectively for CCET. In the All India category, the opening and closing ranks for CSE were 8,387 and 17,334, respectively at UIET.

The third round of counselling will be held on July 28 and the locking of fresh choices will take place on July 25 and 26. Students can visit the website www.chdenggadmissions.nic for further information.
