American band Third Eye Blind makes its debut visit to India
The musical journey of American alternative rock band, Third Eye Blind, began with a jackpot. Songs in two multiplatinum albums with Elektra records in 1996 were followed by the release of their eponymous debut album Blue, in 1997.
With everything working for them, the band was hit with a bolt from the blue when lead guitarist Kevin Cadogan was dismissed due to a controversy. But this did not dampen their spirits. They relaunched themselves with a new line-up featuring Stephan Jenkins on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Brad Hargreaves on drums and percussion, Kryz Reid on lead guitar and Jon Pancoast on bass guitar. "We have been able to embrace new musicians and have really come to value their fresh perspectives," says Hargreaves.
As a part of the "It Started with a Party" campaign by Bacardi Parties, Third Eye Blind is on its debut tour of India. "Travelling to India has always been of interest to us. We received a few offers over the last couple of years but were already booked elsewhere at that time. I know almost nothing about the music scene here. Though, as a drummer, I have heard a lot of Indian classical music," adds Hargreaves.
After kicking off their debut India tour with a performance in Bangalore on November 27, followed by Hyderabad, Mumbai and Pune, the members of Third Eye Blind are are now taking time out to indulge in spicy Indian curries.
"I eat lots of Indian food at home, so I very much appreciate the food here. I'm looking forward to experiencing India. With shows lined up, it is all about travel and playing for a few days and then exploring the country a bit more," says the drummer.
