The police force has been deployed heavily and prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC imposed in Faizabad district after a Muslim youth was found murdered on the premises of a mosque in Ayodhya.
A dargah, near the mosque from where the body of Danish (22) was recovered, was also found vandalised late on Friday, the police said.
Faizabad Range DIG B D Paulson Sunday said the police are investigating if there is a connection between the incidents of vandalism and murder. District magistrate Vipin Kumar Dwivedi, who imposed section 144 in the district "as a precautionary measure", said there is complete peace in the area. The prohibitory orders will remain in force for another three to four days.
Danish, a resident of Buxar in Bihar, was pursuing graduation from a private institute, the DIG said. He had earlier been staying with his friends in a rented accommodation, but had recently shifted to a room on the mosque premises as its caretaker, the DIG added
According to the police, Danish was found murdered around 5 pm on Friday. He had suffered injury on his head caused by some blunt object.
Apprehending tension, heavy police force was deployed in the area and Danish's body was sent to his native place on Saturday, Paulson said, adding the police will soon work out the case.
Meanwhile, Ayodhya MLA and Minister of state for entertainment tax Tej Narain Pandey said Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to Danish's family.
