Family Bonds

The premiere of Shyamche Vadil-Ek Nave Parva was held at City Pride, Kothrud on Friday. Directed by R Viraj, Shyamche Vadil, the film which explores the evolution of family bonds in the age of globalization and digitalization. It is a mild adaption of the film Shyamche Aayi, but with a shift in the central focus of the storyline from the role of the mother to the father. The cast and crew of the film were present for the premiere including Chinmay Udgirkar, Mohan Agashe, Tushar Dalvi, Vinay Apte, Sulekha Tendulkar and more. "The film deals with the modern day rock culture that prevails in our society today and how each member of the family must do their part in adjusting to each other's views. Adjustment is the crux of the film," says Udgirkar, who claims to have referred to the film Shyamche Aayi for better understanding of his role and the emotions behind the script. The film is focused on the issue of divorce; how it is no longer considered a taboo in society and yet how difficult it is for each member of a family to cope with it. The film marks the debut for music directors Soham Patak, Aaditya Barve and Nikhil Pachpande, who bagged this opportunity after winning a competition last year.

Might of the pen

Writer Sudha Menon is back with another day-long writing workshop to be held on Sunday December 23 from 9.30 am to 6 pm at Oak, The Hyatt Regency near Weikfield IT Park. Throwing light on the might of the pen, Menon has managed to strike a chord with amateur writers through her workshops which aids aspiring writers to express and pen down their deepest thoughts. Giving direction to crude ideas and transforming them into stories, the workshop aims to guide participants through the writing process. Participants are left with story ideas that they can weave when the writer's bug bites them.
