‘Fastest bowler’ arrives in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Budding cricketers from Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune do not need to wait for the likes of Dale Steyn to bowl the fastest delivery at them. Reason: the world's 'fastest bowler' has arrived in Pimpri-Chinchwad and promises to make batsmen hop, skip and jump. And in the process, help them learn the art of batting against any fierce bowling attack.

The fastest bowler is a machine that comes hard at the batsmen — from 30 kph to 170 kph — a speed at which no bowler in the world currently bowls. The machine is also capable of delivering spin, including googly and Chinaman.

The machine has triggered huge enthusiam among cricketers in the town. Much before the guests arrived for the inauguration of the machine, over 100 players had already landed to get a feel of the fastest delivery. "We have roped in the world's 'fastest bowler' to give the local lads the taste of what fast bowling is all about," said former India captain Dilip Vengsarkar . He said the bowling machine will primarily be used for indoor practice.

The machine that costs around Rs 2.75 lakh has been manufactured by Bhilai-based Indu Applicances Corporation of India. "There is a big demand for this machine," said S M Umak, managing director of Indu Appliances.

PCMC coach Raju Kotwal said,"It is a great development for budding cricketers. I don't think even the Ranji players have this facility," he said.

The machine was inaugurated by PCMC city engineer M T Kamble.
