Global firms submit offers to develop Gomti river front

The Gomti river-front development project of Lucknow has attracted global firms who have submitted offers for giving consultancy service in the project. The nodal agency, Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), has received a total of 12 offers for consultancy service in the project.

The international firms submitted the offers include Broadway Malyan of UK; LKS India Private Limited of LKS Ingenieria, Spain; Kling Consult GMBH of UAE and Architects Team 3 Pvt Ltd of Singapore.

The other firms are Arcop Associates Pvt Ltd, New Delhi in consortium with WRT (USA); Urban Aqua of Germay in consortium with ANB Consultant in Lucknow; Pradeep Sachdeva Design Associates of New Delhi; Voyants Solutions Pvt Ltd of Gurgaon; DDF Consultants Private Limited of New Delhi; Hiten Sethi & Associates of Navi Mumbai; CEPT University of Ahmadabad in consortium with Civil Consultant of Lucknow and Shah Technical Consultants Pvt Ltd of Mumbai.

According to a press release from LDA, the bids of these firms are under evaluation and a consultant will soon be selected who would have to conduct feasibility study of the project and designing as well as planning for development along the Gomti river.

Experts from IIT-Roorkee are already conducing a hydrological study of the 15-km stretch of project site from Hardoi Road to Gomti Barrage. IIT-Roorkee's team is likely to submit its report very soon.

The Gomti river-front project is inspired by the Sabarmati River-front Development Project in Ahmadabad. Landscaping, theme-based parks, path-ways, ghats, amusement parks, jetties to facilitate boating and public utilities are proposed to be developed on both sides of the river.
