Goldi, Nikhil are champs

It was a befitting finale for Goldi Shahi, of Sports Authority of India, Nikil Kadam and Shriya Kolge from VPM Sports Club, as well as Poinsur Gymkhana's Manjeet Singh, as they were adjudged individual winners in their respective men, women and girls under-18 and boys under-16 age groups on final day of the Poinsur Gymkhana 10th Open Athletic championships here on Sunday.

Goldi aggregated 20 points by winning the won the 200m, high jump and long jump women's events, while Nikhil Kadam garnered 15 pints as she bagged gold in 200m, triple jump and high jump events. Shriya Kolge, aggregated 16 points by winning the 100m and 200m before leaping to gold in the high jump event and Manjeet Singh from hosts Poinsur Gymkhana with 13 points was the best boys athlete in the under-16 age group, while Rashmi Sheregar, also from VPM Sports Club had to share the girls under-20 honours with Sarika Volla as both garnered 10 points each.

The individual winners in all age groups were: WOMEN: Goldi Shahi (SAS) – 20 pts. GIRLS: (Under-6): Shreyafi Veswas (Com & Plasy (SAI)- 5 pts; (Under-8): Siya Godhani (Children's Academy) – 15 pts; (Under-10): Mahetsk Shah (Track Trotters)-11 pts; (Under-12): Anaya Hegde (Track Trotters)and Rene Desai (VPM SC)-10-pts; Under-14: Leah D'Souza (Others)- 12 pts; (Under-16): Sarika Volla (Ryan Int.) and Rene Desai (VPM SC)- 10 pts; (Under-18): Shriya Kolge (VPM SC) – 15 pts. OVERALL CHAMPIONS – VPM SPORTS CLUB – 173 PTS. MEN: Nikhil Kadam (VPM SC) – 15 pts. BOYS: (Under-6): Caleb D'Souza)-5 pts; (Under-8): Parzan Nariman (Savio SC) – 11 pts; (Under-10): Urrvish Pokriyal (Children's Academy)-15 pts; (Under-12): Mahendra Suthar (Mateshwari SF)- 13 pts; Under-14: Alden Noronha (Svio SC)- 15 pts.
